A versatile performer, Casey Cole is equally at home in opera, theater and cabaret. Acclaimed for her masterful vocal technique, unique timbre and impeccable dramatic instincts, Casey is gaining attention from Off-Broadway venues to the operatic stage.
In 2011, she was awarded a Manhattan Community Arts Fund Grant and was a semi-finalist in the 5th annual Cappuccilli Competition in Alessandria, Italy in the fall of 2010. Casey was also awarded a scholarship to attend the 2009 Lotte Lehmann Akademie, where she sang in numerous concerts throughout East Germany. She has recently made the successful transition from lyric mezzo to lyric soprano, and sang the role of Vitellia with dell'Arte Opera Ensemble in March 2009. She is currently collaborating with director/choreographer Michael Bodel on a dance/puppetry/theater piece called Sonnambula. Sonnambula is a part of the HERE Artist Residency Program, and premiered at HERE Arts Center and St. Ann's Warehouse in January 2009.
Casey has performed with Kentucky Opera in the title role in Malcolm Williamson’s The Happy Prince, in New York as Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, as Dorabella in Così fan tutte and as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. She has created roles in several world premieres with American Opera Projects and Encompass New Opera Theatre. Casey made her Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist with the New York City Chorale in 2003 and was a finalist in the New Jersey Alliance for Performing Arts and Lotte Lenya Competitions.
Casey holds a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University. She has studied at the Actor's Workshop Boston and with the SITI Company, as has been on the faculty at the Lee Strasberg Institute for Theater and Film.
